Rachel Picazo Jenkins

I was born in 1952, my parents were missionaries under OMS, Int, where my engineer father built a Christian radio station and my mother was program director. I grew up singing on the radio in several languages with
my siblings and enjoyed having horses, plenty of pets, and swimming in the ocean year round.

My mother is from an old Kentucky family, the Overstreets, and her father, Paul C. Overstreet, taught
astronomy and physics at Morehead State University when it was still a college. Our family came back to
Kentucky every five years until I moved to the US to attend Asbury College at age 17.

I lived in several different states after graduation, but in 1983 moved from Colorado to my grandfather's farm in Kentucky.
I currently live on his old farm near Morehead.

I began photographing birds and animals when my husband gave me small Canon Powershot camera for Christmas in 2005.
This past Christmas he bought me a Canon EOS 40D camera and several lenses, and my photos have improved
so much that I was shocked at the difference in quality.

I spend most of my free time in the woods taking photos of wild birds and posting them on an internet birding website.
